content/veridian/technique-hub/wma12/forge-forty-eight-hour-checklist.md,
forge-spaced-repetition-schedule.md, forge-battle-card.md, and
signal-frequency-and-boundaries.md — every claim below is inherited from these four documents'
own already-verified citations, not re-derived from a primary-source PDF in this pass.
research/veridian/WMA12-verified-facts.md was checked for its contents page and §5 (archive
scope: 20 series with question paper + mark scheme, June 2019–January 2026; 17 with an examiner
report) rather than re-read line-by-line, since all four documents above state they were built from
a full read of it. content/veridian/curriculum/wma12/ and the rest of technique-hub/wma12/ were
checked by directory listing only, to confirm this doesn't duplicate an existing file. Deliberately
the shortest, last document in the sequence: not a countdown (the 48-hour checklist), not a
repetition plan (the spaced-repetition schedule), not a formula sheet (the battle card). Not

WMA12 — The Night Before
Pearson Edexcel IAL, Unit P2: Pure Mathematics 2
Five real things worth a last glance tonight, and four things not to start. Nothing else.
Worth a last look
- Proof, the circle, and the two trig identities have nothing to fall back on in the booklet. Proof is this paper's single most frequently confirmed topic (8 of 20 series — spaced-repetition schedule §2), and all three are marked MEMORIZE on the battle card's formula masterlist: no proof technique, no circle equation, not even sin²θ+cos²θ≡1 is printed for P2. Re-derive both proof techniques (exhaustion; counter-example) once from a cold statement.
- The trapezium rule's strip-width and bracketing — the most-attested single trap in the archive, confirmed across four series (Oct 2020, Jan 2023, Jun 2024, Oct 2023 — checklist "repeat offenders" #1). Given n+1 ordinates, state h without pausing, and close the bracket only after every doubled interior ordinate is inside it.
- Quote the formula before you substitute — a correct value with no visible method scores zero. A literal mark-scheme outcome on two series (Jan 2024 Q5(i); Jan 2025 Q5(a), whose own scheme states it outright).
- Keep exact forms until told otherwise. A correctly factorised stationary point loses its accuracy mark if the x-value is rounded (Jan 2021 Q2); the same rule costs marks on a circle radius left as a decimal instead of a surd.
- "Hence" / "using your answer to (a)" means reuse it, not recompute it. A fully correct redo from scratch still scores zero (Oct 2023 Q4(c)(ii); Jun 2025 Q5(b), which also cost time).
Also worth five minutes: check the calculator against the printed restriction — no symbolic algebra, no differentiation/integration facility, no stored formulae (spec Appendix 6).
Not tonight
- The general (1+x)ⁿ real-index binomial series. Never required at P2 (spec restricts this unit to positive integer n); examiners name it as the harder, unnecessary route on a real question (Jun 2025 01R Q7).
- Proof by contradiction as a from-scratch technique, if it isn't already familiar — a real, credited alternative, but not what this course's lessons build fluency in (checklist "what not to start" #2).
- The 3-D optimisation question family from scratch. Confirmed on one series so far (Jun 2025 Q9); this course's own research calls it "not yet built into any lesson's trap-taxonomy" — a lead for future work, not something to master tonight. If one appears, fall back on the general method: eliminate a variable, differentiate, solve, justify with the second derivative.
- A brand-new full past paper this late, if you've already run one this week. A rushed, partial attempt produces more anxiety than signal, with no time left to re-mark it properly.
Three further low-value topics — the circle's degenerate-locus condition, sequences' recurrence-relation traps, and the graph of y=aˣ in isolation — are named, with reasons, in the 48-hour checklist's own list and not repeated here.
No likelihood, no grade boundary, and no "confirmed in every series" claim appears above.
Grade-boundary data for this paper lives only in signal-frequency-and-boundaries.md Part 2.
